CITRUS COUNTY, FL — Citrus County Independence will periodically report significant arrests and public-safety cases affecting our community.
Our purpose isn’t to embarrass people or turn someone’s worst day into entertainment. It’s to keep residents informed about noteworthy law-enforcement activity while remembering an important principle:
An arrest is not a conviction. Everyone accused of a crime is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
Dunnellon Man Arrested Following Fatal Citrus County Crash
A 32-year-old Dunnellon man, Timothy Tyler Corcoran, was arrested Tuesday morning following a fatal crash on U.S. Highway 98 in Citrus County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Authorities reported that Corcoran was driving a Nissan Xterra northbound on U.S. 98 at approximately 3 a.m. when the vehicle struck a male pedestrian north of West Ashburn Lane.
The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.
Florida Highway Patrol subsequently arrested Corcoran on a DUI charge.
The identity of the pedestrian had not been released in the initial report.
The investigation and criminal proceedings will determine the facts surrounding the case.
CCSO Continues Significant Arrest Activity
The Citrus County Sheriff’s Office maintains a public database of recent arrests made in the county. The agency says the online system retains arrest records from the most recent 10 days.
CCSO has also continued reporting significant investigations involving drugs, violent crime and other offenses throughout Citrus County.
Rather than republishing every booking, Citrus County Independence will focus our coverage on arrests involving substantial public-safety concerns or cases that have a meaningful impact on the Citrus County community.
Arrest Does Not Mean Guilty
There is an important distinction between reporting an arrest and declaring someone guilty.
